Just when I thought the internet couldn’t get any more banal, up jumps the Dictionaraoke site into my transom: renditions of popular classics using terrible karaoke music and pronounciations from online dictionary sites.
Suffice to say when I spotted the Negativland link on the site I wasn’t surprised…

As a sufferer of tinnitus for some 15+ years now, it goes without saying that I’ve always longed for some kind of effective treatment or even (though I never thought it possible) a cure.
So, imagine my interest when I saw this device: the tinnitool. Ostensibly it is a soft laser treatment that claims to encourage cell regeneration in the ear, leading to a reduction or possibly even a cure to tinnitus. At £200 its no cheap option, but as anyone afflicted will attest, that might be a small price to pay if it helps with what can only be described as a maddening condition.
Has anyone tried it? If so, post your thoughts as I’d certainly love to hear more about it… Fingers crossed though that finally some kind of relief has come for those of us with tinnitus.
I stumbled on these audio streams of live performances. Great quality audio, well worth checking out:

For those who missed yesterday’s Observer Music Monthly supplement yesterday, Resonance was listed alongside iTunes, Bleep.com, MySpace and others in the “25 most amazing music sites on the web”. Read more here.
I would stand on my desk and yell “damn right too!”, but I shall restrain myself. For now.
Being something of a Beach Boys nut I was most pleased to find the Let’s Make It Boys blog, which posts up sessions, demos and outtakes from various bands including the usual culprits (Beatles, Stones etc). If you never heard the myriad of Brian Wilson outtakes though, now’s your chance to check em out. Top stuff, with the Alternate Beach Boys Party download for one being essential…
Glenn Branca played one:
OK, so we’ve Matmos and their excellent approach to piracy. Now here’s an MP3 courtesy of WFMU of Roger Waters, showing how he deals with various crowds crimes as letting off fireworks, people whistling and - crime of crimes - singing along.
Suffice to say I can’t wait to see him performing Dark Side of the Moon in London this summer.
“You! Stop f—ing singing along!”
Dear me…
My mate Hint just posted this somewhere else: the Matmos approach to internet piracy…

Class.
Check out this televised debate from the U.S. TV Show “Crossfire”. I think Zappa’s predictions about encroaching theocracy have in part come true.
Recorded in the 1980s, it seems that Zappa’s comments on what is consdered indecent are as relevant to modern British culture as they were to the Reagan era USA. The same kind of people who branded Zappa’s humorous music as “Porn Rock” would like to outlaw the Jerry Springer Opera.
And speaking of Zappa, why is it that Ben Watson (a.k.a. Out To Lunch), our resident Zappaologist has not yet made a contribution to this blog?
