How Lonesome a Life Without Nerve Gas

Saturday, January 27th, 2007

Frank Key of Hooting Yard on the Air narrates this week’s SF epic “How Lonesome a Life Without Nerve Gas” was written by James A. Trimarco and published by Escape Pod, the weekly Science-Fiction audio magazine.

Cory Doctrow of BoingBoing states that “Frank Key, of the Hooting Yard podcast, gives it a dry, sardonic reading that fits perfectly.”, and I am in agreement. BoingBoing also link to Frank’s web-site (but sadly not the podcast feed).

I’ve been trying to get Cory Doctorow to read / listen to Hooting Yard on the Air for some time now (well at least the brief time that I knew him and he lived in London). Could it be that he too is an aficionado of Frank Key’s “Hooting Yard on the Air“?

January voting: Please vote for Resonance FM podcasts

Sunday, January 21st, 2007

I’m trying to do some marketing for some of Resonance FM’s podcasts. Would you kindly spare a moment of your time to help our favorite podcasts reach the audience they truly deserve. It will take at most five minutes of your time.

All you have to do is click on each of the links below and cast your vote for your favourite Resonance shows. You need to provide a correct email address, because every vote needs to be confirmed. I’ve never had any spam from Podcast Ally.

What you need to do:
1. Go to each of the URLs below, and click on the link, and then click on the link which says “Vote” - it’s near the top-left of the page.
2. All you need to type in is your email address, however if you want to be extra helpful write a short review of your favourite show.
3. Click submit, and then wait for your confirmation email.
4. On the confirmation email click the link that PodcastAlley sends you - if you do not click on the link then your vote does not count.
5. YOU CAN VOTE FOR AS MANY SHOWS AS YOU WANT

Plastic People of the Un-verse

Saturday, January 20th, 2007
A visit from true, historic aliens. Co-hosted by Ivan D’Evan who worked on the Lp release, this promises to be live music alien to our time, as they describe an era that helped form the one we live in now.

Ivan will have to translate and in turn I’ll translate his accent.
3 are the relatively "youngest" members, while 3 are the "oldest" PPU members.
Josef Janicek is one of the "very" original founders of PPU in 1968.
(Milan Hlavsa, principal composer, guitar player, singer and leading spirit is no longer with us,
having succumbed to cancer at the time of their previously arranged UK PREMIERE, also at QEH
EACH member of PPU, both the original set up and current PPU equipe is an accomplished musician,
playing with other excellent Prague bands, in quite a wide variety of styles.
This is in fact a nice logical extension to the post-liberation day of the whole Czech
Musical Underground creative ethos,
as it developed in the conditions of dire illegality in the late 60s, 70, & 80s.
(I've co-produced their 1st LP album with extensively illustrated documentary book on their story.)
I hope to cope. Because are they as wild as Ivan? Here is Ivan snaked by his hair carpet, at We Are All Going to Die taken, and survived, by me.

The Oroborus Pizza Menú

Friday, January 12th, 2007

Every day through my door comes a Pizza menú. I don’t eat Pizza no more so it goes to recycle. Today I had to wonder, dose the Pizza menú go through the recycling plant, get pulped sliced diced into a block and they end up at the paper mill to be made into part of a roll which goes to the printer and gets made into a Pizza menú that gets pushed through my door and put into recycling and yada yada yada?
